General Guidelines

Did you know...

You can ‘offset’ your emissions by buying carbon from a farmer who is absorbing (sequestering) the carbon back into the soil. More
Both successful cell grazing and pasture cropping require a considerable investment in infrastructure and on-going education. It also requires radical changes to thinking e.g. moving from trying to force nature to bend to your wishes to working with nature. It is for these reasons that in order to trade carbon under CarbonLink’s banner:

• Farm managers will be required to have done training in ecology and grazing management through one or all of the following courses :
Grazing for Profit
Applied Grazing
Pasture Cropping for Profit
Holistic Management
AIMS Grazing Management Course

• Management standards will be monitored against the following criteria:

- Adherence to the 7 Grazing Management Principles
- Review of the Grazing Chart.

• Farm managers will need to accept that they have a need for ongoing training and support from both educators and like-minded peers in the industry.

• There will be a provision for ongoing training and support of farm managers.

• Contracts with the land holder will have a “put-and-take” clause which means they will get paid for carbon sequestered but they or subsequent owners will have to buy credits back if carbon is released within the lifespan of the project.
