Making a differenceEarly one morning, a man was walking along a golden strip of shoreline, enjoying the peace and tranquility.
He noticed that ahead was a young boy, who was busy throwing something into the ocean. As he approached he could see that the shoreline was littered with washed up starfish. He stood and watched, as one by one the boy picked up a starfish and tossed it into the waves.
Eventually he asked, “What are you doing?”
The boy replied “I’m returning the starfish to the sea.”
The man said “What can you do, you can’t make a difference! It’s hopeless; you can’t return all of these hundreds of starfish back to the sea!”
With that the young boy picked up another starfish and placed it back into the surf.
“It made a difference to that one” he said!
